This scholarship program was created in honor of Mrs. Myrtle V. Hunter by Emeritus Barbara Williams in 2003. A distinguished member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Mrs. Hunter embodied the spirit of charity, grace, and excellence. She devoted her life to uplifting young people, inspiring them to pursue greatness and education as a pathway to growth and prosperity.

Known throughout Houston as a dignitary and a pillar of the community, she left a legacy of leadership and love. Her belief in the power of education lives on in every scholar we support. In her passing, we remain committed to honoring her mission—by walking alongside future leaders as they chase their dreams.
