Since 2003, the Myrtle V. Hunter O.E.S. Scholarship Program has empowered students to pursue their dreams through education. Created in honor of Mrs. Myrtle V. Hunter—a beloved community leader and member of the Order of the Eastern Star—this scholarship supports students with vision, ambition, and a heart for service.
We encourage all eligible high school seniors and currently enrolled college or trade school students to apply. If you’re striving for academic excellence, making a difference in your community, and planning to take your education to the next level, we’d love to hear from you.
Our Purpose and Mission
This scholarship program honors Myrtle V. Hunter’s lifelong belief that education is the foundation for growth and opportunity. It is designed to support promising students who demonstrate leadership and community engagement—values critical to building a strong and civil society.

Scholarship awards are made possible by generous contributions from private donors, businesses, and community organizations. Awards are granted annually to students who meet the criteria outlined below.

Eligibility Requirements
To apply, students must:

Be a graduating high school senior intending to attend college, or
-
Be currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or trade school

Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

Show active participation in community service and demonstrate leadership

Selection Criteria
Finalists will be selected based on:

Academic record and class rank (must submit an official sealed transcript)

Involvement in extracurricular activities—both in school and in the community

Quality and originality of three required essays
